Honor Clubs – Delta & Santa Barbara

Twice a year, the American Red Cross, Santa Barbara County Chapter selects a club in the Northern Region and a club in the Southern to be named Honor Club of the Semester.  This award recognizes Red Cross Clubs that are excelling in the following performance areas:

  • Overall Club Administration
  • Membership Participation
  • Chapter Involvement
  • Service Project Completion
  • Fundraising

South County Honor Club – Santa Barbara High School

This Club embodies the strong but mighty mantra.  With Officers and a handful of members, this Mighty Mouse Club has raised funds for Malaria No More; represented the Red Cross at community events like the Lemon Festival; held countless bake sales to benefit our Chapter and its’ programs and made holiday cards for community members.  Because of their outreach efforts, the Club has at least one new member at most meetings and they stick around because the Officers get them involved right away.  Officers attend Leadership Trainings, complete forms in a timely manner and are prepared for meetings.  The Club members are mature, responsible and awesome representatives of the Red Cross.  I’ve really enjoyed working with the Santa Barbara Club and am excited to congratulate them on their awesomeness!

North County Honor Club – Delta High School

Delta High School has been the most active and involved Red Cross Club this quarter. The Club ran a food drive that brought in over 176 Lbs. of food for the Santa Maria food bank. They participated in the Measles Initiative and gave the gift of life to hundreds of kids around the world. They are active in the Toys for Tots program this year and were involved in the Breast Cancer campaign again this year where they topped all the schools in the district last year being the smallest campus to compete. The school is a split AM & PM scheduled class system and has two American Red Cross Clubs in existence on campus. Both Clubs work together for the Red Cross Mission. Thier Faculity Advisor Tami Contreras guides these two campus clubs to excellence. The Club is the only club on campus and members are tasked with having to put in over 30 hours of community service each year.

Congratulations Delta Dragons for being our choice for outstanding club of the quarter.
